Handbrake cable with equalizer yoke
In this typical system the handbrake is attached to a primary cable that runs back to an equalizer yoke underneath the car.
From the equalizer an exposed secondary cable runs out to each rear brake. Each secondary cable attaches to a lever on each brake backplate, and the levers pass into the brake drum to operate the brake shoes.
The secondary cable runs through brackets or guides attached to the underside of the carโ both cables are fitted with adjusters.
